A team from Greenville, N.C., representing the Southeast in the Little League World Series, notched that tournament's first perfect game since 2008 in a 6-0 defeat Friday night of the Midwest.

They play again Sunday afternoon at 2 against the West.

Southeast scored once in the second inning, then blew the game open with a four-run barrage in the third. They added an insurance run in the fifth.

Southeast pitcher Matthew Matthijs struck out five and teammate Chase Anderson added another four strikeouts.

Drew Fields and Ashton Byers each drove in two runs for the Southeast.
